The picture agency group ddp - visual content group , based in Hamburg, includes the press picture agencies of ddp images, Picture Press, Intertopics, Insight Media and Laif agency for photography and reports in Cologne .

Around 40 million photos from the fields of entertainment, politics, business, aristocracy, lifestyle, stock photography , current affairs and sports can be researched online in the agency databases. Photographers and international partner agencies supply the editorial team with up to 20,000 images a day.
Around 5,000 of them are selected according to journalistic criteria and new online media , daily newspapers , magazines , television stations and companies are offered. The ddp group also takes on the content syndication of media content from renowned publishers such as The New York Times , USA Today , The Sun , The Times , The Sunday Times , Mondadori Photo, the Klambt media group and Gruner + Jahr .
history
The founding shareholders were the managing directors Katharina Doerk and Ulf Schmidt-Funke as well as the dapd news agency . In 2012, ddp images first acquired the US photo agency Sipa Press and later the picture agency Picture Press from the Gruner + Jahr publishing house.
In 2013, Katharina Doerk and Ulf Schmidt-Funke took over all shares in ddp images as part of a management buyout . In the same year, the takeover of the picture archives of the dapd news agency and the press picture agency Intertopics followed.
In 2015, ddp images acquired the company Laif Agency for Photos and Reports, which is located as an independent unit in Cologne.
In 2017, the US photo agency Sipa Press was sold and the Insight Media photo agency was acquired.
In January 2019, Abaca from Clichy in France and the ddp group announced a strategic partnership.
