DEWIENERS , also known as DeWieners , was founded in 2000 and is a Viennese hip-hop group . DeWieners became famous for their intergenerational and cross-style appearances with the jazz combo around saxophonist Hans Salomon and guitarist Rens Newland . The three MCs from DeWieners, ScOOp, StePh and Sweat-On are concerned with a fusion of the German-language lyric poetry formed in hip-hop rhythms with jazz elements ( jazz-rap ). "DeWieners combine hip-hop , funk and jazz" is what it says in the lyrics to their track DeWieners on their album Fastbreak .

Appearances

Crossover experiments by rappers with live bands are controversial in the hip-hop scene. The space requirements and the technical effort are particularly high when performing with jazz formations with their various musical and percussion instruments . Nevertheless, the DeWieners played again and again in small and very small clubs.

Publications

In 2004 DeWieners released their first sound carrier on vinyl, an almost 40-minute album on which not only private experiences, but also political impressions and opinions were textually processed. "The word chains are not only about sports betting, but also target politicians and society as a whole," wrote music critic Manfred Horak: "The band has charm (no, they're Viennese too), the combination of rap & Jazz, albeit nothing new, is a pleasant synthesis. "
