Dead Man's Eyes is a German indie and psychedelic rock band from Cologne / Bonn .

history

Singer and guitarist Peter Engel, guitarist Simon Reichelt and drummer Robin Hertner founded the indie rock band "Bandit" in 2006, from which "Dead Man's Eyes" developed in 2010 with the entry of bassist Simon Mead.

The first musical sign of life was an EP that was released independently in 2013 and a. spread through Bandcamp . Then five years passed, during which the quartet grew into a quintet through a change of line-up and the debut album was written over a period of two years and recorded and mixed by Nima Davari. The publication of Words of Prey in June 2018, the Krefeld Music Label Tonzonen Records . As a German premiere, the album was presented in advance via slam in the stream.

The band performed live until 2018 a. a. with Tame Impala , The Datsuns and Black Mountain .

In 2019 the band was nominated for the popNRW award in the “Newcomer” category.

style

“Like a desert storm” sweeps the band's music over the listener and they let “blues, folk and stoner rock flow into their dense, spherical sound at the same time”, wrote the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger in 2011 when the band was around nine months old was.

In one of the first reviews of the debut album, the sound was described as “a full helping of indie rock, enriched with lots of garage psych”. The influences in the sound image are “the best elements from the past 60 years of British rock music” - “from the blues-emphasized rock of the Rolling Stones, to the extraordinary compositional talents and skills of the Beatles, to modification in the 90s by Oasis or The Verve ". In conclusion, the album was called the “Summer Festival Soundtrack 2018”.

The “dynamic arrangements” were highlighted in the German, English and Spanish-language preliminary reports, which would “transform from jazzy, light key rhythms” into “mantric jams driven by three guitars” within a few seconds.
