Dead by April is the debut album by Swedish post-hardcore band Dead by April . It was released by Universal on May 13, 2009 and reached number 2 on the Swedish album charts.
background
The songs were written by singer Jimmie Strimell and guitarist Pontus Hjelm and some of them were already several years old at the time the album was recorded. The No. 1 single Losing You came about three years before the album was recorded and before the band was founded, and Pontus Hjelm wrote the oldest track, Found Myself in You , seven years earlier. Guitarist Olsson attributes a significant influence on the music production to the producer of the album Henrik Edenhed, as he is actually at home in pop and rock and has provided ideas that the band would never have come up with.

Reviews
Frank Trojan from Rock Hard describes the music on the album as a mixture of “poppy rock and tough metalcore” and compares it with Sonic Syndicate , My Chemical Romance and Killswitch Engage , the catchy pieces have catchy tunes like those of their colleagues from Billy Talent . Alexey Eremenko from Allmusic, on the other hand, sees the album as an intersection of the Metalcore from Sevendust and the Melodic Death Metal from Dark Tranquility . He writes that the album fully meets the expectations that could be placed on it: Powerful and catchy melodies paired with groovy rhythms. For him the album is uniform, but still full of energy.
