Debant ridge

The Debantgrat ( 3,055  m above sea level ) is a double summit at the end of the Debanttal in the Schobergruppe in East Tyrol . The summit lies northeast of the Hochschober and is separated from the Klein- and Hochschober by the Schobertörl ( 2898  m above sea level ). The lower south summit ( 3,052  m above sea level ), also called Viehkofel, has had a striking summit cross since 2002. The summit is not particularly independent and from the higher Ralfkopf ( 3106  m above sea level ), which towers in the further ridge towards the northeast, only through the Ralfscharte ( 2995 m ) separated.

South Summit from North Summit

The mountain is climbed quite often because it is one of the easiest three-thousanders in the Schober group. In addition, the ascent is usually free of snow in early summer due to the south-facing orientation. The easiest ascent is from the Lienzer Hütte ( 1977  m above sea level ) or the Hochschoberhütte ( 2322  m above sea level ) via the Gartl and the Schobertörl. The path is marked as far as the south summit. The transition to the slightly higher main summit, 250 meters to the north, is not particularly difficult with a suitable path, but the block area requires some surefootedness .

The summit offers a good all-round view, especially the nearby Glödis ( 3206  m above sea level ), which shows one of its most beautiful sides from here. The Hochschober in the southwest is within reach.
