Career

Deborah Ochs achieved her first international success at the Pan-American Games in Caracas in 1983 , where she won the gold medal with the team in each individual on the 50-meter distance. In addition, she secured silver for the 60- and 70-meter distance as well as in the general individual competition. Ochs was part of the US contingent at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul when the team archery competition made its debut in the Olympic competition program. In the individual, Ochs did not get past the first round, which she finished with 1227 points in 26th place. With the team, which also included Melanie Skillman and Denise Parker , she made it to the finals. The US women finished the competition with 952 points and were, like the Indonesians, level on points behind the victorious team from South Korea , who had scored 982 points. In the jump-off for the silver medal, Ochs, Skillman and Parker lost 67:72 to Indonesia and thus received bronze. A year later, Ochs was runner-up with the team in Lausanne . In 1987 she became the American champion.

Ochs attended Arizona State University and won several college championships while studying.
