Declan Galbraith
Declan Galbraith (born December 19, 1991 in Hoo St. Werburgh , Kent , England ) is a British pop singer who had some success first in his homeland and then in German-speaking countries in the 2000s.
Life
Declan's father Alec Galbraith is Scottish and his mother Siobhan is of Irish descent. His grandfather played several instruments and often took him with him when he gave concerts. At the age of seven, Declan sang at the Charles Dickens Festival in Rochester . He started taking part in talent competitions and won 12 of 14 competitions in one year.
He made his first appearance on a professional recording on a Christmas album alongside songs by Westlife , Elton John and Elvis Presley with a version of Walking in the Air . This was followed by appearances on the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II's golden jubilee in St Paul's Cathedral , where he sang Amazing Grace and at an Elton John concert in front of over 22,000 visitors. Furthermore, in December 2002 he sang in the Odyssey Arena, Belfast, simultaneously with 80,000 children from all over the world - this resulted in an entry in the Guinness Book of Records .
These successes eventually prompted media mogul Haim Saban to sign Declan Galbraith for his Saban Music Group. On December 1, 2006, Declan's first international album Thank You was released on Starwatch (Warner Music Group) . Due to his success in Germany, the music broadcaster VIVA also became aware of the boy and broadcast the video premiere of An Angel on January 20, 2007 .
After waning success and dissatisfaction with his musical development and marketing, he retired from the music business in 2010. A comeback attempt in 2014 as an independent singer-songwriter was unsuccessful.
