Dee Bell (born July 16, 1950 in Fort Wayne , Indiana ) is an American jazz singer .

Dee Bell attended Plainfield High School, where she played the clarinet and performed with an a cappella trio. In 1972 she graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with a degree in arts education. She later lived in Bloomington , where she ran a vegetarian restaurant. In the 1980s, she began performing as a jazz singer in the San Francisco Bay Area ; She then released two albums on Concord Records . In the first Let There Be Love (1983) a. Stan Getz and guitarist Eddie Duran with. The album One by One was created in 1985, accompanied by Tom Harrell and musicians from the Bay Area .

Her albums earned her critical acclaim; the Down Beat voted her “Talent Deserving Wider Attention” in its 1984 and 1985 polls. Leonard Feather reviewed her album in the Los Angeles Times . She currently lives in Mill Valley near San Francisco and performs in various ensembles and also with big bands.
