Deep Imagination is a German music project whose atmospheric music is often compared to the music of artists such as Pink Floyd , Dead Can Dance or Clannad . Stylistically, the synthesizer-based music by Deep Imagination can be assigned to the areas of electronic music , art rock and gothic rock .

history

The German music project Deep Imagination was launched in 2005 by the musician and composer Thorsten Sudler-Mainz (born April 5, 1963 in Frankfurt am Main ), founder of the German band Art of Infinity , in Frankfurt. In the same year, the debut album Scapes appeared on the German record label Syngate Records. The style of Deep Imagination includes atmospheric electronic music with influences from Artrock, Heavenly Voices , Ambient , Ghothicrock and Electronica , but also artists such as Pink Floyd, Dead Can Dance , Clannad, Art of Infinity, Steven Wilson , No-Man , Jean Michel Jarre or Schiller .

Thorsten Sudler-Mainz was supported by guest musicians Thorsten Rentsch and Stefan Höllering at various live concerts, including the Festival of Electronic Music at Burg Satzvey 2005, the Zeiss Planetarium Bochum 2008 and the Electronic Circus Festival 2010.

The second album Gemstones was released in 2008, again on Syngate Records. Under the Deep Imagination logo, Thorsten Sudler-Mainz also produced various radio jingles, sound installations for art exhibitions and video soundtracks.

The two albums Scapes and Gemstones were published in 2008 by the renowned German music publisher BSC Music GmbH via the distribution company Zebralution, among others on iTunes or Napster (online music service) in digital distribution worldwide. In 2010 Deep Imagination signed a record deal with BSC Music GmbH. The third album Awareness was released by Rough Trade on the Prudence label . In 2011, the German airline Lufthansa used the pieces of music Awareness Part 3 - Surroundings and Awareness Part 4 - Tradition by Deep Imagination on all flights on Lufthansa radio.

With Live at Electronic Circus Festival , Deep Imagination's first live album was released by BSC Music GmbH in 2011.

With the single Dancing with Ghosts , released by BSC Music in 2015 , Thorsten Sudler-Mainz expanded the stylistic range of Deep Imagination to include vocals and guitars. In 2016 the EP Carefully Kept Secrets was released.

The fourth album Carefully Kept Secrets by Deep Imagination was released in 2017. With guest musicians like Ann Kareen Mainz (vocals), Günter Kaufmann (guitars) and Byron Metcalf (percussion) Thorsten Sudler-Mainz developed the sound of Deep Imagination from a purely electronic one to a style of music characterized by art rock. Carefully Kept Secrets was voted one of the top 25 best albums of 2017 by the US radio station Journeyscapes Radio. In 2018, Deep Imagination's fifth EP, Wings to Fly , was released. The single Temple In Nowhere was released in 2019.

The music from Deep Imagination is conveyed in the media with video clips in which Thorsten Sudler-Mainz appears together with guest musicians such as singer Ann Kareen Mainz and guitarist Günter Kaufmann. With Dancing with Ghosts (Chillout version) , Carefully Kept Secrets , Paradise in Space , Awake from a Dream , Before Thousand of Years , Underneath the Waves , Wings to Fly (single version) and Temple in Nowhere were 2016-2019 eight Deep Imagination video clips posted on YouTube .
