BSC Music is a German recording company ( independent label ) and a music publisher in Munich .

history

The two musicians Christoph Bühring-Uhle and Christian Stolberg founded the recording company and the music publisher in October 1988 with the support of Bühring-Uhle's former employer World of Music , for whom he worked as a sales manager at the time. It was initially based in Icking , and from 1999 to the beginning of 2017 the label was based in Münsing on Lake Starnberg . In the early 1990s, BSC Music first signed contracts with prominent British acts such as Rupert Hine and The Fixx .

The greatest success from the beginning was the sub-label Focus, which specialized in German-speaking pop and rock . The band Cusco by Michael Holm and Kristian Schultze was able to sell their albums up to 1.5 million copies and thus finance the construction of the label program to a large extent. In 1993 and 1994 the two compilations Brennzeichen D and And the Beat Goes On were published . After a strong expansion phase with up to 13 bands and its own festival, the label made losses and then downsized again.

The musical focus today is on so-called world music . Above all, the Prudence label ( instrumental music ) made a name for itself internationally with its music selection.

Other labels include MundArt , on which albums by Bavarian bands and artists are released, R 'n' D (rock from Great Britain and Germany) and Embab (jazz). The albums of the German punk band Lustfinger are sold through Rotz + Wasser .

The German distribution is Rough Trade Germany, the digital distribution is done by Zebralution .
