Degracias is a locality and former municipality in central Portugal .
geography
The municipality is located in the south of the district, on a mountain range that belongs to the foothills of the Iberian Scheidegebirge . From the recently established Miradouro de Nossa Sr.ª da Estrela viewpoint , the view extends over the valley of the Rio Anços .
history
The exact origin of the village is unknown. The arch of the baptistery in the main church dates from the 16th century, so the place may have existed before. The manor house Solar dos Cardosos de Albergaria was already inhabited in 1827 and shows the relative development and importance of the town. The creation of the title Visconde de Degracias in 1879 supports this assumption. Since 1853 the parish has belonged to the Soure district.
Culture, sports and sights
The associations Associação Cultural Desportiva e de Solidariedade da Freguesia de Degracias (German: Culture, Sport and Solidarity Association of the Municipality of Degracias) and Associação Cultural e Social dos Casais de S. Jorge (German: Cultural and Social Association of Casais de S.Jorge) are important factors in community life with their social institutions (care for the elderly, music school, etc.) and diverse activities, as is the folk dance association ( Rancho Folclórico ) Papoilas da Serra (German: poppies of the mountains).
With the Polidesportivo Municipal, the municipality maintains an open multi-functional sports facility.
The Degracias and Pombalinho Hunters' Association ( Clube de Caçadores das Freguesias de Degracias e Pombalinho ) is based here.
The church Igreja Matriz de Degracias (German: Main Church of Degracias, also Igreja de S. Sebastião , German: Church of Saint Sebastian ) was built at the beginning of the 17th century, through the renovation and expansion of the baptistery built in the 16th century. The simple chapel Capela de Santo António lies on a hill, near two dilapidated windmills . It contrasts with the surrounding wind turbines and gives a wide view of Figueira da Foz and Coimbra , depending on the visibility.
The mansion Casa dos Viscondes das Degracias (Eng .: House of the Visconde of Degracias) was renovated in the 1990s and is now part of the regional tourism rural offer.

Degracias was an independent municipality ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Soure , in the district of Coimbra . On June 30, 2011 Degracias had 452 inhabitants in an area of 14.2 km².

In the course of the local reorganization of Portugal after the local elections on September 29, 2013 Degracias was merged with Pombalinho to form the new municipality União das Freguesias de Degracias e Pombalinho . The seat of the new municipality is Degracias.

Agriculture is also an important factor, tourism is present as tourism rural , but of little importance. Electricity is generated in wind farms on the heights of the community .
