The Dehmse is a forest area that belongs to the town of Twistringen in the Lower Saxony district of Diepholz .

location

The Dehmse forest area is located in the northern urban area of ​​Twistringen, 1 km west of the Twistringen district of Köbbinghausen , on the border with the municipality of Harpstedt . It extends in an east-west direction of approx. 3.5 km and in a north-south direction of approx. 1.5 km. It has been a landscape protection area (LSG) since 1970 . It comprises parts of the landscape (" parcels ") in the then (1970) still independent communities of Winkelsett , Beckeln , Colnrade , Natenstedt , Altenmarhorst , Abbenhausen and Twistringen in what was then the county of Hoya . The forest area is part of the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park . The Katenbäke flows through the wooded area and flows into the Hunte on the right-hand side to the east of the Wildeshausen urban area .

In addition to its importance for forestry and local recreation , Dehmse is the namesake for a regional heritage association, namely the "Heimatbund between Dehmse and Hunte", which is based in Colnrade.

In the 1950s there was the newspaper supplement “Heimat between Dehmse and Hunte”. It contained contributions on regional studies .

The forest area has been designated as a landscape protection area under the number OL 00060 since 1970 (see list of landscape protection areas in the Diepholz district ).
