The dike association of the I. Meile Altenlandes is a dyke association based in Hollern-Twielenfleth .
Association area
The Deichverband is responsible for an area of 6,300 hectares in the east of the district of Stade , which includes all properties protected by the dykes of the Elbe , Schwinge and Lühe up to a height of +7.00 m above sea level including the higher ground elevations within this area .
The main dike line in the association area along the Elbe is 11.2 kilometers long. It runs from the swing barrier in the northwest to the Lühes barrier in the southeast. The length of the protective dykes at Schwinge and Lühe is 14.5 kilometers and extends over the right Schwingedeich from the Salztorschleuse in Stader Hafen to the Schwinges barrier and the left Lühe and Auedeich from Horneburg to the Lühes barrier .

Association structure
The association is represented by a committee called the mile assembly, which is elected by the association members. The mile assembly consists of 19 members who are known as dike jury members. There are also eleven deputies. The mile assembly elects the board called “Oberdeichamt”, which is made up of nine board members, called dike judges. A deputy is elected for each dike judge.
Members of the association are all landowners and leaseholders of the properties located in the association area.
