The dyke association of the 2nd mile of the Old Country is a dyke association based in Jork .

Association area

The Deichverband is responsible for an area of ​​around 12,000  hectares in the east of the Stade district and in the far north of the Harburg district, which includes all properties protected by the dikes of the Elbe , Lühe and Este up to a height of +7.00 m above sea ​​level the higher ground elevations lying within this area.

The length of the dike in the association area is 48.8 kilometers. Of this, 12.1 kilometers are accounted for by the main dike of the Elbe, which runs from general plan kilometer 571.8 at the Lühesperrwerk to general plan kilometer 583.9 on the state border with Hamburg .

Along the Lühe and the Este, the association is responsible for the right Lühe and Auedeiches from Horneburg to the Lühes Barrage and the left and right Estedeiches from the Flethschleuse in Buxtehude to the state border with Hamburg.

Association structure

The association is represented by a committee called the mile assembly, which is elected by the association members. The mile assembly consists of 15 members who are known as dike jury members. There are also ten deputies. The mile assembly elects the board called “Oberdeichamt”, which is made up of nine board members, called dike judges. A deputy is elected for each dike judge.

Members of the association are all landowners and leaseholders of the properties located in the association area.
