The dike association Land Wursten is a dike association in the state of Wursten with its seat in Beverstedt .

Association area

The Deichverband is responsible for an area of ​​15,970  hectares in the district of Cuxhaven , which includes all plots of land located in the protection of the main dike up to a height of +6.00 m above sea ​​level, including the higher ground elevations within this area. The area extends over the municipalities of Wremen , Mulsum , Misselwarden , Padingbüttel , Dorum and Cappel as well as parts of the municipalities of Midlum and Nordholz and the cities of Geestland and Cuxhaven .

The main dyke line in the area of ​​responsibility of the Land Wursten dike association is 28 kilometers long. It extends from the state border with Bremen in the north of Bremerhaven to the higher ground of Wurster Heide near Cuxhaven .

tasks

The dyke association has the task of protecting properties in the association area from storm surges and floods . To this end, he maintains the main dykes in the association area.

Most of the dikes are grazed by sheep in order to ensure dike safety. The dyke association maintains two sheep farms for grazing the dykes .

Association structure

The association is represented by a committee that is elected by the association members. The committee consists of 13 members. For its part, it elects a board of directors composed of six board members and the chairman of the board. A personal representative is also elected for each committee and board member.

Members of the association are all landowners and leaseholders of the properties located in the association area.
