Misselwarden was mentioned as a wurt with the double name "Midlistan-Fadarwurde" for the first time around 860 together with a number of other places in the region between Ems and Elbe in a record of Archbishop Ansgar about miraculous healings at Willehad's grave .

The area of ​​Misselwarden, like the whole of Wursten, was settled by Frisians since the 8th century after the Saxons had left the area.

At Misselwarden in 1505 the “Wurster Arbitrariness” was decided by the Frisian men , a constitution for the country of Wursten.

Incorporations

In the course of the regional reform in Lower Saxony , which took place on March 1, 1974, the localities Misselwarden, Cappel , Midlum , Padingbüttel, Dorum , Mulsum and Wremen merged to form the municipality of Land Wursten .

On January 1, 2015, the joint municipality of Land Wursten and the municipality of Nordholz formed the new municipality of Wurster North Sea Coast in the district of Cuxhaven.

  • The St. Catherine's Church stands on a church mound of the 13th century in the town center. She owns the "Gloriosa" bell, cast by Ghert Klinghe in 1459 , which became the coat of arms of the Misselwarden community. In the church there is an altar made by Jürgen Heitmann in 1671.
  • The old pastor's house is in Misselwarden. It was used for events. After a fire in 2010, it was rebuilt by donations until 2012.
