Delight is a city in Pike County in the US state of Arkansas . In 2010 the population was 279, a slight decrease since 1990. The total area of the city is just under 1.3 square kilometers.
Delight is part of the Ark-La-Tex socio-economic region , which includes parts of the four states of Arkansas, Louisiana , Oklahoma, and Texas .
Demographics
The 1990 census showed that there were 311 people in 135 households and 85 families, equivalent to 261 people per square kilometer. 95.5% of the residents were white, 3.22% Native Americans, 0.96% colored, 0.32% Asian and 0.32% Hispanic or Latin American. The average age was 39 years, for every 100 women over the age of 18 there were about 80 men.
By the 2010 census , the population had dropped to 279.
Personalities
The well-known, successful country singer Glen Campbell , who won several awards between 1967 and 1975, was born in Delight, as was Scott Reeves , who was also a country singer and actor. Former Arkansas State Auditor and Treasurer Gus Wingfield also lived there.
