Dempsey McGuigan (born August 30, 1993 in London ) is a British- Irish hammer thrower .

Athletic career

Dempsey McGuigan gained his first international experience at the European Junior Championships 2011 in Tallinn , where he was eliminated with 62.68 m in qualification. A year later he took part in the Junior World Championships in Barcelona , but also retired there with 69.27 m in qualification. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow , he made it to the finals for Northern Ireland and finished eleventh there with 64.79 m. In 2015 he took part in the U23 European Championships in Tallinn and was eliminated there with 65.09 m in qualification.

In 2018 he again took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast , where he finished sixth with 70.24 m.

In 2014 McGuigan was Irish hammer throw champion. He is a student at the University of Mississippi .
