The everyday work of a station of the German People's Police in Berlin-Karlshorst is in the foreground of this film. The camera accompanies a patrol officer on his patrol to ensure order and security in his area of responsibility. But also here offenses such as the car theft simulated by actors occur. Bored youngsters discover an unlocked Wartburg car that even has the ignition key in it. They use this opportunity to steal the car for a spray drive. The owner can only see afterwards and calls the police to report the theft. The report is immediately forwarded to all police stations and the main sergeant Brandt, shown at the beginning, will continue his patrol with increased attention. Using clues from the local population, he can soon track down the stolen vehicle, which the thieves abandoned and which is in an accident in a forest. In cooperation with the criminal police , traffic and protection police , the traces are secured and the perpetrators are identified. In this context, the camera also takes a look behind the scenes of the work of the German People's Police and especially of a People's Police Station.
In such cases, coordination meetings of all social forces take place in Berlin-Karlshorst under the direction of the Member of Parliament Springer. Ms. Börner, a member of the municipal district parliament and a judge, says: There is a system of regular exchange of experience and complex cooperation between all responsible state bodies and social organizations, institutions and businesses and citizens. The car theft described is also part of these deliberations, in which the District Manager Oberleutnant of VP Schuckert explains the facts. This is followed by an assessment of the young car thieves by several social forces. The consultation summarizes all suggestions for the further procedure and forwards them to the appropriate offices.
