Denean Elizabeth Howard married. Hill , also Howard-Hill , (born October 5, 1964 in Sherman ) is a former American sprinter who had specialized in the 400-meter run .

From 1981 to 1983 she was US champion in the 400-meter run three times in a row. At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , she was part of the US 4-by-400-meter relay that won the gold medal. However, in contrast to her older sister Sherri Howard, she was only used in the preliminary round.

At the 1987 World Championships she won the bronze medal behind the teams of the GDR and the Soviet Union in the relay together with Diane Dixon , Valerie Brisco-Hooks and Lillie Leatherwood .

At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 Denean Howard started the season in the final, while her sister was only used in the preliminary round this time. Together with Diane Dixon, Valerie Brisco-Hooks and Florence Griffith-Joyner , she only had to admit defeat to the Soviet season. Denean Howard started in Seoul in the 400-meter run and finished sixth in 51.12 seconds behind her teammates Brisco-Hooks and Dixon. In the semifinals, Howard had set a personal best with 49.87 s that would have brought her third place in the final.

In 1992 Howard was again involved in the silver medal win of the US 4 x 400 meter relay at the Olympic Games in Barcelona , but this time was not used in the final.

Denean Howard is 1.65 m tall and had a competition weight of 55 kg. She is married to the professional boxer Virgil Hill .
