Sherri Frances Howard (born June 1, 1962 in Sherman , Texas ) is a former American sprinter who specialized in the 400-meter run .

After she had become US champion in the 400-meter run in 1980, she won the gold medal at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles with the 4-by-400-meter relay . Together with Lillie Leatherwood , Valerie Brisco-Hooks and Chandra Cheeseborough , she relegated the teams of Canada and the Federal Republic of Germany to their places in an Olympic record time of 3: 18.29 minutes . Her younger sister Denean Howard was used in the season in the preliminary round.

Sherri Howard was a member of the US relay at the 1988 Seoul Olympics , which won the silver medal. This time, however, unlike her sister, she was only used in the preliminary round.

Sherri Howard is 1.70 m tall and had a competition weight of 53 kg.
