Denis Eduardovich Airapetjan ( Russian Денис Эдуардович Айрапетян ; English Denis Ayrapetyan * 17th January 1997 in Penza ) is a Russian Shorttracker .

Career

Airapetjan had his first international success at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck . There he won the bronze medal with the relay and came in sixth place in the 500 m run. He started the World Cup for the first time in December 2014 in Shanghai and took 21st place over 1000 m and 18th place over 500 m. At the Junior World Championships in Sofia in 2016 , he won the bronze medal with the relay. The following year he achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup in Minsk with second place with the relay and won the silver medal with the relay at the European Championships in Turin . In February 2017 he came in sixth place over 1500 m in Dresden for the first time under the top ten in the World Cup individual. In the 2017/18 season he again won the silver medal at the 2018 European Championships in Dresden and at the 2018 World Championships in Montreal, he achieved 32nd place in the all- around competition and seventh place with the relay. In the 2018/19 season he won in Turin with the relay and also came in third place with the relay and over 1000 m in Salt Lake City . At the 2019 European Championships in Dordrecht , he won the bronze medal with the relay and over 1000 m. In the following season he ran twice in the season to second and third place. He also achieved ninth place in the 1500 m World Cup with four top ten placements. At the 2020 European Championships in Debrecen , he won the gold medal with the relay.
