Denis Browne (Bishop)

Denis George Browne , CNZM (born September 21, 1937 in Auckland , New Zealand ) is Bishop Emeritus of Hamilton in New Zealand .

Life

Denis George Browne was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Auckland on June 30, 1962 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him Bishop of Rarotonga on March 21, 1977 . He received his episcopal ordination from the auxiliary bishop in Auckland, John Hubert Macey Rodgers SM , on June 29 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Cardinal Reginald John Delargey , Archbishop of Wellington , and John Mackey , Bishop of Auckland.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Auckland on July 6, 1983 and Bishop of Hamilton in New Zealand on December 19, 1994.

On November 22, 2014, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
