The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Wellington ( Latin Archidioecesis Vellingtonensis , English Archdiocese of Wellington ) is a in New Zealand located diocese of the Roman Catholic Church , based in Wellington .

The archbishopric was founded on June 20, 1848 with the division of the Vicariate Apostolic New Zealand into the diocese of Auckland and the diocese of Wellington and on May 10, 1887 raised to the archbishopric.

The suffragan dioceses of Auckland , Christchurch , Dunedin , Hamilton in New Zealand and Palmerston North are affiliated to the Archdiocese of Wellington .
