Denis James Madden (born March 8, 1940 in Carbondale , Pennsylvania , United States ) is an American clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Baltimore .

Life

Denis James Madden joined the Congregation of Benedictine at, received on April 1, 1967, the priestly ordination . He later left the order and was incardinated on November 4, 1976 in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Baltimore .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on May 10, 2005 auxiliary bishop in Baltimore and titular bishop of Baia . The Archbishop of Baltimore, William Henry Cardinal Keeler , donated him episcopal ordination on August 24 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the auxiliary bishops William Francis Malooly and Mitchell Thomas Rozanski from Baltimore.

On December 5, 2016, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
