William Francis Malooly

William Francis Malooly (born January 18, 1944 in Baltimore ) is an American clergyman and bishop of Wilmington in the US state of Delaware .

Life

He was ordained a priest on May 7, 1970 by Baltimore Auxiliary Bishop Thomas Austin Murphy .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Baltimore and titular bishop of Flumenzer on December 12, 2000 . The Archbishop of Baltimore, William Henry Cardinal Keeler , donated him episcopal ordination on March 1 of the next year ; Co-consecrators were William Clifford Newman , Auxiliary Bishop in Baltimore, and William Donald Borders , Old Archbishop of Baltimore. As a motto he chose Rejoice in the Lord .

He was named Bishop of Wilmington on July 7, 2008, and inducted into the office on September 8 of that year.
