Denis Poncet (born October 29, 1948 in Toulon , Var department , † December 12, 2014 in Strasbourg , Bas-Rhin department ) was a French film producer who was awarded an Oscar .

Career

Poncet's career in the film business began in French film with the documentary La vie jusqu'au bout in 1998, for which he was responsible as a producer. For his participation in the film A Made-to-Measure Murderer , he received an Oscar nomination in the " Best Documentary " category . Poncet and Jean-Xavier de Lestrade received the award at the 2002 Academy Awards .

This was followed in 2008 by the documentary film about the history of the Octogon network for financing the CDU after the Second World War, which was published under the title Black Kassen der CDU / CSU - Documentation of Power Construction . The following year the film Petroleum, Bread and Corruption , which was made under his direction, was released.

Private

Poncet was born in Toulon in 1948. His father was a Vice-Admiral during World War II. He lived in London, Cairo, Washington, Brest and Paris, among others. Before working as a film producer, he worked as a journalist for French radio.

From 2012 until his death he was married to the German film producer Kornelia Theune , whom he met in Paris in 2007. Poncet died in Strasbourg in December 2014, but was buried in Berlin.
