Denis Watts
Denis Watts (* 30th July 1920 ; † 10. June 2005 ) was a British long jump and triple jumper who than later Athletics - trainer was successful.
At the European Athletics Championships in 1946 he was sixth in the long jump and ninth in the triple jump.
In 1946 he was English champion in the long jump, in 1946 and 1947 in the triple jump. Because his sports teaching activity was interpreted as incompatible with the amateur status, he could not take part in the 1948 Olympic Games in London.
As a trainer he coached Ann Packer , Robbie Brightwell , Janet Simpson and Lillian Board, among others . From 1964 to 1976 he coached the British team at four Olympic Games, for which he was awarded the MBE .
