Dennis Weiland (born August 30, 1974 in Hanover ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
Dennis Weiland, who, like his older brother Niclas and his future team-mate at 1. FSV Mainz 05 Christof Babatz, comes from the youth department of Germania Grasdorf, was already on the verge of joining the Hannover 96 professional team in 1993 . The takeover from his own youth failed because of Weiland's school education, which prevented him from doing morning training. Weiland came to VfL Osnabrück in 1999 via the regional league team Sportfreunde Ricklingen , Borussia Dortmund Amateure , Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and SV Arminia Hannover , with whom he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga , but relegated again after a year.
In 2001 Weiland switched to the second division club 1. FSV Mainz 05 , who had recently signed his brother Niclas from Tennis Borussia Berlin . There he became a permanent regular for the first time in his career. In his first season, Weiland scored five goals for Mainz - all five games were won and it was the first Mainz goal in each game. Weiland's first goal was also his first ball contact in a competitive game in Mainz. These five goals were Weiland's only goals in Mainz league games. In his second year Weiland was still the best preparer for the 05er, in the 2003/04 promotion year he lost contact with the regular eleven.
In the summer of 2006, Weiland moved to the second division club Eintracht Braunschweig on a free transfer . There he could not prevail and moved after relegation from Eintracht Braunschweig for the 2007/08 season to SV Waldhof Mannheim in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg . Although Weiland's contract ran until 2010, he was released from the club's management in July 2008 because they were not satisfied with the performances shown in the previous season. In November 2008, Weiland lost a lawsuit with SV Waldhof Mannheim before the Mannheim labor court, with which he wanted to sue for his right to train in the club's first team. In November 2008, SV Waldhof Mannheim Weiland resigned without notice because he had stayed away from training for a week without excuse. Weiland successfully sued the dismissal and trained with the SV Waldhof national league team until the end of the season, but was no longer used.
For the 2009/10 season he moved to the district upper division club SV Arminia Hannover . At the beginning of the second half of the season, Weiland ended his active career and became the club's sports director.
In July 2012 he became assistant coach at 1. FC Eschborn in the Regionalliga Südwest at the side of coach Sandro Schwarz . In the 2013/14 season he was the responsible coach at 1. FC Eschborn after Schwarz left.
Weiland studies sports science at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz .
