Denny Scott Miller (born Dennis Linn Miller ; born April 25, 1934 in Bloomington , Indiana ; † September 9, 2014 in Las Vegas , Nevada ) was an American actor . He was best known for his leading role in Tarzan, the lord of the jungle and as a performer in the television series Wagon Train .

Life

In his youth, Miller played basketball for the UCLA Bruins at the University of California . After he was discovered by an acting agent, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer signed him. In 1959 he took on the leading role in Tarzan, the lord of the jungle , for which he received bad reviews and which was denigrated in a book about the character as "Tarzan the worst".

After that, Miller increasingly turned to television, where he shot numerous guest roles in television series and some television films. One of his most famous roles was that of the scout Duke Shannon in the television series Wagon Train , which he played in over 100 episodes from 1961 to 1964. He then took on the role of officer Mike McCluskey on NBC sitcom Mona McCluskey . In 1968 he played the role of Bill Kelso in Der Partyschreck .

During his career, he appeared in more than two hundred television productions. In 2004 he published his autobiography Didn't You Used to Be What's His Name? .

Miller died in September 2014 at the age of 80. He left behind his wife, Nancy Miller, and a daughter and a son. A previous marriage to actress Kit Smythe ended in divorce.
