Denys Cherevychko

Denys Cherevychko ( Ukrainian Денис Черевичко / Denys Tscherewytschko ; * in the 20th century in Donetsk , Ukraine ) is a Ukrainian ballet dancer .

Education and career

Cherevychko was trained in his hometown at the Ballet Academy of Vadim Pisarev and at the Heinz Bosl Foundation , Ballet Academy in Munich. In 2006 he was accepted into the ballet of the Vienna State Opera and Volksoper . From 2008 he was a semi-soloist, from 2009 a soloist and from 2012 first solo dancer of the Vienna State Ballet.

His repertoire includes various roles in ballets by Frederick Ashton , George Balanchine , Ferenc Barbay and Michael Kropf , Maurice Béjart , Davide Bombana , Jiří Bubeníček , Ben van Cauwenbergh , Nils Christe , John Cranko , David Dawson , Jorma Elos , William Forsythe , Gyula Harangozó sen. , Gyula Harangozó , Joseph Haßreiter , Pierre Lacotte , Harald Lander , Manuel Legris , Serge Lifar , Paul Lightfoot and Sol León , Kenneth MacMillan , Jean-Christophe Maillot , Vladimir Malakhov , Hans van Manen , Antony McDonald , John Neumeier , Rudolf Nurejew , Ashley Page , Marius Petipa , Roland Petit , Jerome Robbins , Rostislaw Sacharow , Wachtang Tschabukiani , Christopher Wheeldon , Peter Wright and Renato Zanella .

Guest performances have taken him to various European countries and overseas.

  • Prize of the Ballet Club Wiener Staatsoper & Volksoper (2007)
  • 1st prize and gold medal at the 25th International Ballet Competition in Varna (2012)
  • Nomination for the Prix Benois de la Danse 2011 for his appearances in "The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude"
