The Holy Spirit Is Attacking is the Cashiers second studio album from 1993.
background
With “The Holy Spirit Attacks”, the cashiers took the musical direction they are still following. Instead of playing pure punk rock, they experimented with different genres. The texts on this record often draw their material from the genital area. The song “Großes Glied”, for example, deals with the “problem that occurs when you have a 15-year-old girlfriend”, as explained in advance. In addition, there are also the band-typical topics of alcohol (“There is no beer in the beyond”), exaggerated violence (“With my motor”), life on the street (“Scrap of the night”) and philosophy (“God has an IQ of 5 billion ").
As usual, the album contains a few cover versions:
- "Proll II", modification of "A friend, a good friend" from the film "The three from the gas station"
- "Dr. Martens ", a punk version of" Jeans on "( David Dundas )
- "Girl from Ipanema", in the original "The Girl from Ipanema"
- "Christmas carol", rudimentarily based on "Power up the door"
- "Hashish from Amsterdam", adaptation of " Tulips from Amsterdam " ( Mieke Telkamp )
- "Now or Never", modification of "'O sole mio" in the Elvis-Presley version
In return, some songs were covered by other bands on the cashier tribute album “Art”, including “Großes Glied” by Mambo Kurt .
There is also a music video for the song “With my motor” (sometimes known as “outboard motor”) .
