The Moral Criminal is a film by the director Franz Schnyder . It was filmed in Switzerland in autumn 1962 and premiered in Zurich on March 27, 1963 .

In this educational film , real cases of sexual abuse of children are re-enacted in four episodes in the form of a documentary feature film, with explanatory commentary by a narrator. The film was also awarded in the United States and in the Federal Republic of Germany , but was unsuccessful.

action

In the first episode, five-year-old Claudia is kidnapped from a small animal store. The mother calls the police and the girl is found in a basement, having been sexually abused. The police search the shop and the basement for clues that ultimately lead to the perpetrator. The psychiatric examination of the offender is re-enacted, his conviction and the prison system. The recording of a castration is shown and crime statistics are listed.

In the second episode, a farmer abuses two girls and is then caught by a police officer.

The third episode is about a janitor's son who is abused by an embroidery artist. The perpetrator can only be convicted in court because the boy describes an anatomical detail of the perpetrator, which is confirmed by a male prostitute.

The last episode describes the case of a fourteen-year-old girl who is impregnated by her stepfather.

criticism

In his History of Swiss Films, Hervé Dumont wrote : "The one-sided typology of criminals (homosexuals are rich and / or artistically active) directly reflects the prejudices of the scriptwriters and their audience". In the Federal Republic of Germany, the film received the rating of valuable .

«Educational film based on files of the Zurich moral police in four episodes about the dangers and forms of moral crimes and how to combat them, especially about the protection of children from sex criminals. An unspeculative, somewhat clichéd appeal to parents and educators towards the end. "
