The Sportpenner is a German tragic comedy released in 2019 and set in the French city of Biarritz . Directed by the filmmaker Florian Mortan, who also wrote the script . The film deals with the fate of the homeless Charlie Meinhart, who manages to convince other homeless people to do sports. The film was produced in partnership with the footwear manufacturer Reebok . As part of the film, the “Sport for the homeless” campaign was launched, in which over 1200 sneakers were handed over to homeless institutions in Cologne and Berlin.

Charlie Meinhart ( Oliver Korittke ) ends up on a bench in a Berlin park during his alcoholic search for happiness from the stock exchange. Tired of the homeless life in Germany, he set off for Biarritz in southwest France on the Atlantic. Through this paradisiacal and, above all, sport-loving piece of earth, he suddenly begins to do sports himself. With other homeless people in tow, he becomes a sports fanatic.

“Der Sportpenner” is the directorial debut of the sports scientist Florian Mortan. The film was shot within 16 days. In addition to Florian Mortan, three other members of his family were involved in the film: Dagmara Mortan produced the film. Olaf and Sebastian Mortan played the characters "Picard" and "Levite the Fast".
