Theodore in the football goal (song)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Theodor in the football goal is the title of a sports hit from the immediate post-war period , which became known in the interpretation by Theo Lingen . It was written by the German composer Werner Bochmann , who dedicated it to the entrepreneur and amateur soccer player Theodor Klüber . Kurt Feltz wrote the text for it .

The song in a boogie-woogie rhythm, which was new for Germany at the time , was released in 1948 in Munich by Ralph Maria Siegel Musik Edition.

Margot Hielscher first made it popular on the radio. The first record version of the number, however, came from Will Höhne , one of the "masters of the subject 'humorous to ambiguous hits'". Only then did Lingen take up the title with the Hamburg Radio Dance Orchestra under the direction of Franz Thon . Numerous cover versions followed.

In Austria, the duettists Pirron and Knapp , who became known in the post-war period for their cabaret texts, recorded the title. In the "East Zone" he was played by the Leipzig broadcasting orchestra, directed by Kurt Henkels ; the singer was Ilya Glusgal .

The Austrian director EW Emo made a film in 1950 with the title of the song: In it, Theo Lingen, who took on Austrian citizenship in 1946, played the title hero Theodor Lubitz. In his free time he plays in a football club as a center forward, but is appointed goalkeeper in the course of internal disputes.

The line of text “Our NN who holds, who holds” was used as a political slogan on ÖVP election posters in 1953 .

The “Theodor in the football goal”, according to Spiegel 51/1949 the “greatest hit of the post-war period”, has meanwhile become a musical evergreen . Götz Alsmann and Max Raabe sang the song about "Theodor im Fußballtor" in 2008 together on the ZDF program "Götz Alsmanns Nachtmusik".
