The blue planet (also Our blue planet II ) is a documentary series of the BBC ("BBC Studios - The Natural History Unit"). A German-language dubbing and an abbreviated adaptation was premiered in February and March 2018 in the first under the title The Blue Planet . On March 23, 2018, an unabridged German-language dubbing came on the market as DVD, Blu-ray and "Blu-ray-4K Ultra HD" with the title Our Blue Planet II .

The shortened German version of the TV documentary series The Blue Planet comprises six episodes, each around 43 minutes long. It was broadcast for the first time on six consecutive Mondays at 8:15 p.m. each time.
In the English original version Blue Planet II and in the German publications Our Blue Planet II on Blu-ray and DVD, the series consists of seven episodes with a length of around 50 minutes (episodes 1-6) and 58 minutes (episode 7).

In Great Britain, where the series was produced under the title Blue Planet II and was televised in 2017, the documentary was the most successful TV show of the year: 14.1 million people saw the first episode. The BBC has now sold the lavish series, for which 125 expeditions were shot on every continent and in every ocean, to 30 countries. Co-producers were BBC, BBC America, Tencent, WDR , France Télévisions and CCTV9 - in collaboration with BBC Open University, BR , doclights NDR Naturfilm and SWR .
The German-language synchronization The Blue Planet was a co-production by WDR, BR, NDR and SWR; it was created by Tesche Dokumentarfilm. The synchronization of our blue planet II was created by Mo Synchron GmbH.

In Our Blue Planet II David Attenborough acts as moderator and voiceover , whose German dubbing voice is Christian Schult. The scenes from the moderator are missing in The Blue Planet , Axel Milberg is the off-speaker.

Episode 1: Unknown oceans
The big-tooth wrasse opens hard-shell shells by cracking them on coral outgrowths. This usage was filmed professionally for the first time.
Episode 6: Extreme World Coast
The episode shows olive ridged turtles laying eggs on the beach in Costa Rica , Galápagos sea lions hunting yellowfin tuna , an ocher starfish hunting limpets in the tide pool , a red cliff crab escaping a moray eel and an octopus , skuas , on Hornøya try puffins their prey to steal, blennies to Micronesia , king penguins and elephant seals at South Georgia and has the coastal threats by land development and pollutants out.
