occupation

The dishonest act is a German-Italian social drama from the year 1969. Directed by Rolf von Sydow playing Gabriele book and Günther Schramm the leading roles.

action

The story takes place in the so-called “better social circles” in Hamburg at the end of the 1960s. There, as a result of the general, social and sexual liberalization, immorality has also found its way into the business world. The industrialist and successful man Janson treats some of his colleagues, like him, who are spoiled to success, to a hot sex night with corresponding, bought ladies. Janson also finds nothing in the fact that, as a married man, he cheats on his own wife. His chosen one is the blonde waitress in a dim jazz club in the Hanseatic city, who in turn has a black boyfriend. Obviously, the waitress was sleeping with her lover, the trumpeter of the combo playing here, when Janson penetrated the young woman. After sex he goes home to his wife Elisabeth and sleeps with her too.

Elisabeth becomes pregnant immediately, and nine months later there is a nasty surprise for everyone involved: Elisabeth's baby is black! One is horrified, outraged, upset. Janson concludes that he must have cheated on his wife, and then with a guy of a different skin color! The hypocrite with the double standards is shocked ... and the supposedly better circles are right there too. The sensational press has its scandal and is gorging it with relish. Elisabeth Janson becomes the hunted, “negro whore” for the pack of journalists. The “better circles” are now beginning to avoid them, to isolate them socially and to expel them. Her husband, who is responsible for the whole mess by cheating, has long since turned away from Elisabeth in indignation. So completely isolated and “blessed” with a dark-skinned baby (without being responsible for it) as well as socially pilloried, Elsabeth Janson commits an act of desperation: hounded and cornered by everyone, she sets a fire in her room and comes by the fire to death.
