Derek Nikitas
Derek Nikitas (born December 13, 1974 in Manchester , New Hampshire ) is an American writer who has published two crime novels to date .
Life
Nikitas grew up in New Hampshire and western New York . His first two novels also take place there. He studied English literature at the College of Brockport the State University of New York with the degree Bachelor . He received his Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington . His first publication Pyres from 2007 was nominated for the Edgar Allan Poe Award in the category Best First Publication by an American Author in 2008. Joyce Carol Oates suggested Pyres for the Pushcart Prize .
In 2011, Nikitas taught English and Creative Writing at Eastern Kentucky University .
