Deride ( English for mocking ) is a Norwegian metal band.
history
The band was founded in autumn 1995 by singer Børre H. Michelsen, guitarist Ole Walaunet, bassist Johan Alme and drummer Kjetil Greve . In the following two years the band played numerous concerts, including one in the opening act for Entombed . In 1998 the band released their self-titled demo . Songs from it have been played on various Norwegian radio stations.
A year later Michelsen and Alme left the band. It wasn't until the end of 1999 that the band found a new singer in “Frediablo”. With him, the band recorded three new songs, which brought the band a contract with the US record label The Music Cartel . The debut album Scars of Time was released in June 2001. A year later the second album First Round Knockout followed . Ole Walaunet played the bass on both albums.
A longer break followed. Singer "Frediablo" and Ole Walaunet were active in the band Grimfist in the 2000s , while Kjetil Greve plays in the band Audrey Horne . At the beginning of 2012 Deride returned with the new members Per Helge Lande (vocals) and Tony Vetaas (bass). The band signed a deal with Massacre Records , who will release their third studio album The Void in late April 2012 .
