Dermot Robert Wyndham Bourke, 7th Earl of Mayo KP , PC (I), JP (born July 2, 1851 , † December 31, 1927 in London ) was a British - Irish nobleman and politician .

Life

Bourke was the third of seven children and the eldest son of the politician Richard Bourke, 6th Earl of Mayo , from his marriage to Blanche Julia Wyndham, daughter of George Wyndham, 1st Baron Leconfield .

Dermot Bourke even came after the visit of the prestigious Eton College in 1870 as a Cornet in the cavalry regiment 10th Royal Hussars (Prince of Wales's Own) and then was Lieutenant in the Infantry Regiment Grenadier Guards . When his father died on February 8, 1872, he inherited his Irish nobility titles as 7th Earl of Mayo , 7th Viscount Mayo and 7th Baron Naas . However, no membership in the House of Lords was associated with these titles, all created in the Peerage of Ireland . However, after the death of Edward Leeson, 6th Earl of Milltown on May 30, 1890, he was elected Irish Representative Peer and as such represented the interests of the Irish nobility in the House of Lords until his death on December 31, 1927. At the same time he was also a member of the Privy Council of Ireland in 1900 and on February 3, 1905 to the Knight Companion of the Order of Saint Patrick (KP).

Bourke married Geraldine Sarah Ponsonby on November 3, 1885, daughter of Gerald Henry Brabazon Ponsonby and granddaughter of John Ponsonby, 4th Earl of Bessborough . However, since the marriage remained childless and he died without male descendants, his cousin Walter Longley Bourke inherited his title of nobility after his death on December 31, 1927.
