Sir John Dermot Turing, 12th Baronet (born February 26, 1961 ) is a British lawyer specializing in finance , writer and historian . He is a nephew of Alan Turing (1912–1954) and has authored a number of books about his famous uncle.

Life

Dermot Turing is the son of John Turing (1908–1983) and his second wife Beryl Hann († May 15, 2017). Turing - he was the older brother of Alan Turing - was educated at King's College , Cambridge , where he received his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in 1982 . He then studied at New College in Oxford and received his doctorate there in 1986. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in genetics .

He has been married to Nicola Jane Simmonds since July 26, 1986. With her he has two sons, John Malcolm Ferrier Turing (born September 5, 1988) and James Robert Edward Turing (born January 6, 1991). In 1987, on the death of his fourth uncle, Sir John Leslie Turing, 11th Baronet, he inherited his title of Baronet , created in 1638 in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia , of Foveran in the County of Aberdeen . From 1990 onwards he spent most of his professional time at the British law firm Clifford Chance , headquartered in London . His tasks there included risk management in financial services , about which he wrote several books and also wrote other papers.

For several years he has been intensively concerned with the life and work of his uncle Alan Turing, who made a decisive contribution to the successful deciphering of the secret communications of the German Wehrmacht with his groundbreaking ideas during the Second World War . He has authored several books on the subject and is also active as a trustee and on several committees at Bletchley Park .
