Derrick Paul Brown (born September 8, 1987 in Oakland , California ) is an American basketball player. He played for the Charlotte Bobcats in the NBA from 2009 to 2011 .

Career

college

Brown played for the Xavier University of Cincinnati for three years . The 2007/08 season was his most successful. With the Musketeers, the team at his university, he reached the Elite Eight . Brown was the second best scorer and best rebounder of his team. Nevertheless, they lost there against the UCLA Bruins with 76:57. In his last season they only reached the Sweet Sixteen , but Brown was able to improve his performance again.

NBA

In the 2009 NBA Draft , Brown was drafted 40th by the Charlotte Bobcats . With the Bobcats he then agreed on July 13, 2009 on a two-year contract. In his first season with the Bobcats, he played a total of 57 games and averaged 3.3 points per game. In addition, he reached the playoffs with the Bobcats , but where they eliminated against the Orlando Magic . In the 2010/11 season he was placed in the position of power forward in third place behind Boris Diaw and Tyrus Thomas , before he was given in the course of a trade to the New York Knicks . At the Knicks, his contract was terminated and Brown returned to the Bobcats for the 2011/12 season. For the 2012/13 season Brown received no new contract in Charlotte and was appointed by the San Antonio Spurs in the provisional squad for the following season. In October, however, he was removed from the squad again.

Europe

Thereupon Brown moved to Russia to Lokomotive Kuban Krasnodar . With this club he won the final in the Eurocup 2012/13 .
