Tyrus Wayne Thomas (born August 17, 1986 in Baton Rouge , Louisiana ) is an American professional basketball player who was most recently under contract with the Eisbären Bremerhaven in the basketball league . The 2.06 m tall and 98 kg heavy player was drafted fourth in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers and immediately traded to the Chicago Bulls for LaMarcus Aldridge , the second pick of the draft, along with Viktor Khryapa . Previously, the power forward played at Louisiana State College . In his only year of college, he scored 12.3 points per game, plus 9.3 rebounds and 3.1 blocks.

Career

Thomas played for the Bulls for three and a half years. He had his best year in the 2008-09 season when he scored 10.8 points, 1.9 blocks and 6.5 rebounds on average and was a starter on the field with 61 of 79 players. However, he could not meet the high expectations and was traded to the Charlotte Bobcats on February 18, 2010 for Ronald Murray and Acie Law . In the summer of 2010, he signed a $ 40 million five-year contract in Charlotte. After a good 2010-11 season, his performances were getting weaker, so that he played for the Bobcats until the summer of 2013. During the summer break, the Bobcats terminated the existing contract with Thomas by option. For the 2013-14 season, Thomas remained without a club.

On January 15, 2015, Thomas signed with Iowa Energy in the D-League . A few days later, Thomas was hired by the Memphis Grizzlies for 10 days , but then sent back to Iowa. The Eisbären Bremerhaven announced on September 4th, 2015 that they could sign the former NBA professional. In the 2015/16 season he will go hunting for basketball in the BEKO Basketball Bundesliga . He did not play the season to the end, as Thomas and Bremerhaven separated by mutual agreement in February 2016.
