Ante Tomić (born February 17, 1987 in Dubrovnik , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian basketball player who last played for FC Barcelona in the Spanish ACB league and the EuroLeague .

career

Club career

The 2.18 meter tall Ante Tomić began his career in his hometown in the youth of KK Dubrovnik , and in 2003 moved to the state capital to KK Zagreb . Tomić celebrated his first title in 2008 when he won the Croatian Cup ( Kup Krešimir Čosić ). A little later he was selected in the NBA Draft in 44th place by the Utah Jazz .

In the 2008-09 season, the NLB League he was named MVP named the tournament and 2009/10 he led the statistics on points per game, rebounds and the MVP ranking, before he in January 2010 for Spanish giants Real Madrid moved where he signed a contract until 2013.

In the 2011/12 season he won the Spanish Cup with his club and reached the final of the ACB league . Tomić's contract was terminated at the end of the season. He then signed with Real Madrid's rival, FC Barcelona . He stayed in Barcelona until 2020, in 2014 he became Spanish champions with the team, in 2013 and 2018, and in 2019 also cup winners.

National team

With Croatia he already took part in various international tournaments in his youth. At the qualifying tournament for the European Championship in 2007 he made his debut in the senior national team. At the Mediterranean Games in Pescara in 2009 , he won the gold medal with Croatia.
