Maciej Bolesław Lampe (born February 5, 1985 in Łódź ) is a Polish basketball player.
youth
Maciej Lampe was born in Poland but grew up in Stockholm , Sweden , where he befriended Damir Markota , who later also became a professional basketball player. In addition to Polish , he also has Swedish citizenship . As a teenager, he was recruited for the basketball division of Real Madrid . In Madrid he developed into one of the greatest basketball talents in Europe.
NBA
In the run-up to the NBA draft in 2003, Lampe was next to Darko Miličić as the greatest European talent. Many experts saw Lampe as a lottery candidate (top 13). Due to the difficult contract situation and the high transfer fee from Real Madrid, which was set for a move to the NBA, many NBA teams shied away from the risk of pulling lamp in the first draft round. In the end, Lampe ended up in the second round by being drawn in 30th place by the New York Knicks .
At the NBA Summer League in Utah, Lampe played for the Knicks team and impressed with 17.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. The Knicks management then decided to buy lamp out of the contract with Real Madrid. Due to an injury, Lampe never played for the Knicks, instead he was traded to the Phoenix Suns in January 2004 . He became the youngest Suns player to date. He finished his rookie season with 4.6 points in 10.7 minutes per game. After seeing little playing time in the second year, he was transferred to the New Orleans Hornets . In exchange to Phoenix, among other things, a draft pick went, with which Lampes compatriot Marcin Gortat was later drafted.
In New Orleans lamp could not prevail either, so that he was transferred to the Houston Rockets in 2006 . After the season, Lampe was no longer signed by any NBA team. His NBA stats to date included 3.4 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. In 2010, Lampe played for the Cleveland Cavaliers Summer League team , but missed the leap into the first team.
Europe
After his NBA career, Lampe initially joined BK Dynamo from Saint Petersburg in 2006 . However, he left the team after it became known that the team had been banned from the top division due to insolvency. In the same year he joined BK Chimki . Khimki beat CSKA Moscow in the 2008 Cup final and Lampe was named MVP of the game. He played a total of three years for Chimki before moving to Israel.
After a brief stint in Israel at Maccabi Tel Aviv , Lampe returned to Russia. He signed a contract with UNICS Kazan in January 2010 . With Kazan, Lampe won the ULEB Eurocup 2011. For his achievements he was elected to the All-Eurocup 1st team . Lampe was also recognized as the MVP of the Russian League. For Kazan, Lampe scored 15.9 points per game in 96 games.
In July 2011, Lampe signed a two-year contract with Saski Baskonia . In August 2013 he switched to league rivals FC Barcelona , with whom he won the Spanish championship in 2014. In the 2014-15 season he took part in the Euroleague with Barcelona and scored 7.1 points and 3.8 rebounds on average in 24 missions.
In August 2015, Lampe announced his move to the top Turkish club Beşiktaş Istanbul . Lampe became an important player for Beşiktaş and was invited to the TBL All-Star Game 2016.
Move to China
In July 2016, Lampe announced he was moving to China to join Shenzhen Leopards . After a year he moved to the Qingdao Eagles , and in summer 2018 he signed a new contract with Jilin Northeast Tigers .
