life and career

Deryl Dodd was born in April 1964 and grew up in Dallas , Texas . At first his great passion was football , but when an injury stopped him, he decided to pursue his musical talents. His conclusion made Dodd in 1987 before it four years later to Nashville , Tennessee moved to in a band with Brett Beavers to play, and he appeared as during the early 90's opening act for Martina McBride on and supported them on a LP as a background singer. He also supported country greats such as Tracy Lawrence and Radney Foster . In 1996 he also came to his first own studio album, which he released in October of that year under the title One Ride in Vegas . Dodd was able to reach the country charts straight away, and the album's three singles were also able to place in the charts. Two years later, the musician released a second album, named after himself, which confirmed the success of his first work and had his biggest hit with the song A Bitter End , which was the only one to place on the Billboard Hot 100 to date .

However, Dodd had to cancel his plans for a tour due to a serious illness. His doctor recommended six months of bed rest, after which he needed another year and a half for rehabilitation , during which he had to learn to play the guitar again himself. In 2002 he finally dared a fresh start with a new label and released the album Pearl Snaps , which was less successful than its predecessor and missed the genre charts. He then moved back to Texas, where he recorded a live album at Billy Bob's Texas in 2003 , something that country artists such as Willie Nelson , Pat Green and Jason Boland & the Stragglers had done before him. The album reached number 61 on the country charts. He continued his studio career a year later with the album Stronger Proof , which was followed by three more CDs by 2011.

His last studio album to date, Long Hard Ride , was released in 2017.
