The Despe is an eastern tributary of the Leine in the Lower Saxony district of Hildesheim .

The Despe has its source in Sibbesse and flows towards the west. It flows through Möllensen , Hönze , Nienstedt , Eitzum , Barfelde and Gronau (Leine) and flows into the Leine there.

Tributaries

The Despe has various tributaries. The following list gives an overview:

  • Salterbeek at the so-called Möllenser Corner
  • Hahmbach in Eitzum
  • Hufzitterbach in Barfelde (the Zitterbach also flows into the Hufzitterbach before)

There are also other small tributaries without names.

Trivia

The Despe gave its name to the formerly independent municipality of Despetal . The districts of Barfelde , EItzum and Nienstedt were part of the community . The individual districts were incorporated into the city of Gronau (Leine) on November 1, 2016 .
