Barfelde is a district of the small town of Gronau (Leine) in the Hildesheim district in Lower Saxony .

geography

Barfelde is located southwest of Hildesheim and east of Gronau between the Weserbergland nature park in the west and the somewhat distant Harz in the east. Immediately northeast of the former municipality is the Hildesheim Forest , south of it the Seven Mountains .

The Despe , the Hufzitterbach, the Zitterbach and other, smaller streams run through Barfelde . The Zitterbach and the Hufzitterbach arise from the Hildesheim Forest. The Zitterbach flows into the Hufzitterbach, the latter flows into the Despe.

history

In 1013 Barfelde was first mentioned as Berivilti . By amalgamating several farm positions, Adolph Freiherr von dem Bussche-Haddenhausen created a larger estate in the middle of the 19th century, for which he acquired the knight's voice from the abandoned von Hakeschen Hof in Dassel in 1861. His son Clamor von dem Bussche-Haddenhausen sold the manor before the First World War.

A memorial with the coats of arms of Eitzum, Barfelde and Nienstedt commemorates the founding of the Despetal community in 1974.

Incorporations

The formerly independent municipality of Barfelde was incorporated into the municipality of Despetal on March 1, 1974 .

On November 1, 2016 Despetal was incorporated into the enlarged city of Gronau (Leine) . At the same time the town of Gronau was a member of the merger by the likewise on November 1, 2016 Samtgemeinden Duingen and Gronau (Leine) incurred Samtgemeinde Leinebergland .

City Councilor and Mayor

Since November 1, 2016, Barfelde has been represented at the municipal level by the City Council of Gronau (Leine).

The community Barfelde was the municipal coat of arms on May 17, 1938 the Provincial President of the Province of Hanover awarded. The district administrator from Alfeld presented it on July 4th of the same year.

Foundation of the coat of arms: In the Middle Ages, the Barfelde community was home to the "de Bervelde" family, which had a stag or stag head in its seal. Based on this model, the municipality of Barfelde decided to use the coat of arms described.

Regular events

  • Since 2013 the orienteering race Kampf am Zitterbach takes place in and around the village. The organizer has been the Altes Feuerwehrhaus Barfelde e.V. association since 2017 . V. , who also takes care of the maintenance of the old fire station after the Barfelde volunteer fire brigade moved into the new fire station in Eitzum . The Barfelde Volunteer Fire Brigade was the organizer until 2016.
