Destinee Dante Hooker (born September 7, 1987 in Frankfurt am Main , Germany ) is an American volleyball player .
Career
Destinee Hooker comes from an athletic family. Her parents were both basketball players and her sister Marshevet Myers took fifth place in the 200-meter run at the 2008 Olympics . Her own career began at Southwest High School. There she was not only active in the school's volleyball team, but also became a Texas high jump champion in 2004 and 2005 . Hooker's parallel career in volleyball and high jump continued during her studies at the University of Texas at Austin . The diagonal attacker received various awards in the NCAA championship and in 2009 she won the indoor and outdoor championship in the high jump. In January 2008, she was called up for the first time to the US national team, but she missed the Olympic tournament in Beijing. In 2010 Hooker first played in South Korea at GS Caltex Seoul KIXX and in Puerto Rico for Pinkin de Corozal before moving to the Italian first division club Robursport Pesaro . In the same year she won the Grand Prix with the USA and was fifth at the World Championship . In 2011 the national team managed to defend their title at the Grand Prix and Hooker was named Most Valuable Player (MVP). The USA finished the World Cup 2011 in second place. In the 2011/12 season, the diagonal attacker played for the Brazilian club Osasco Voleibol Clube. After her third Grand Prix success in a row, she won the silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London . After the tournament she moved to the Russian first division club VK Dynamo Krasnodar .
