Detlef-Hauke Mache (* 1960 in Kamen ) is a German mathematician and professor of applied mathematics and advanced mathematics .

Life

Detlef H. Mache passed his Abitur in 1980 at the Ruhr-Gymnasium Witten and studied mathematics as well as philosophy, sport and computer science at the University of Dortmund , where he graduated in 1988 with the academic degree of Diplom-Mathematiker. Between 1988 and 1991 he was a research assistant at the chair for approximation theory , where he obtained his doctorate in 1991 with a thesis on the application of the Kantorovič operators.

After completing his habilitation in 1998 at the University of Dortmund, Mache was a private lecturer there . He was a visiting professor at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and was a professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the University of Duisburg (1998-2002).

His research deals with topics from approximation theory and applied mathematics .

Since 2003 he has been working as a professor at the private Georg Agricola Technical University in Bochum . He also teaches at the TU Dortmund and had a teaching assignment at the University of Witten / Herdecke from 2013-2014.

He is u. a. Member of the editorial board of the journal General Mathematics. Mache is a founding member and member of the board of trustees of the Max & Gustav Born Foundation in Recklinghausen and u. a. Founding member and chairman of the Foundation Education & Culture.
